WKI – wendykennedy.com inc. is pleased to recognize the following WKI Certified sites that are part of this year’s EDA Build to Scale grant award recipients — First Flight Venture Center (FFVC) in North Carolina and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) in South Texas.  WKI is proud to support their work in helping innovators design their ideas into commercial opportunities.

Krista Covey, President and CEO of FFVC said, “It was with great excitement that we learned of this grant award from the US Economic Development Association.  Specifically, this grant will enable us to grow our Hangar6 efforts – an advanced prototyping facility.  It will allow us to advance our prototyping resource infrastructure, streamline services design, prototyping, equipment, staff time and continue to minimize costs for start-ups and high-growth companies.  The WKI innovation design methodology is a foundational aspect of our programming at First Flight Venture Center.”

The WKI Program has a long history of success in helping innovators, researchers and startup entrepreneurs in furthering their vision to commercialize new ideas.  WKI Certified organizations across the world assist their client innovators to move their innovations into the marketplace.

Wendy Kennedy, Founder and President of WKI said, “WKI is honored to include some of the world’s top entrepreneurial advisors as WKI Certified Coaches.  It is their expertise and commitment that ignites the WKI design process to help innovators translate ideas into commercial value propositions.”

Regarding the UTRGV grant, Laurie Simmons, Director of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Commercialization said “The combined efforts of UTRGV’s Center for Innovation and Commercialization and it’s Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center can now jointly serve both university and community-based ventures by using these EDA grant funds to expand and develop tools for applicant assessment, training and education, technical assistance and comprehensive resource networking. Throughout our program offerings, the WKI Methodology enables us to provide a design-thinking framework that all of our clients will continue to take advantage of to accelerate their commercialization progress.”
