A valued contributor to this book is my colleague, close friend, and
advisor, Peter Eddison. Peter and I have talked about writing a book
together for years and finally the stars aligned. Peter and I have had
many energizing conversations and stimulating debates at white boards
and in airport lounges, and the result is a new edition rich with examples
and tighter in content. As a founder himself, and having advised and
coached hundreds of startup entrepreneurs, Peter knows only too well
the challenge for founders with early stage ideas. I am lucky to have
his wisdom and expertise woven throughout this book. A special
thank you to Heather Eddison for being a sounding board on
the design elements of this book.

I am blessed to be a guardian of two beautiful Golden
Retrievers, Tahoe and Buddy. “The Boyz” as they are
known, feed my soul. I credit them for the “a-ha”
moments I have during our daily walks and for being
the catalysts for breaks and playtime.

And finally, to the person at the center of my world:
my husband, John. It’s often said that the most important
supporter of a new idea is a founder’s spouse. Without
a doubt, this is true. Thank you for always being there
when I need advice or an ear to listen. I couldn’t
have done any of this without you.
